Delhi Govt starts free MRI/CT scan facility for needy patients

·         Decision aimed at cutting down three years waiting list

·         Those with an annual family income of less than Rs three lakh & bonafide residents of Delhi for three years will be eligible

Delhi government has provided the facility of free MRI/CT scan in top seven private labs for patients with an annual family income of less than Rs three lakh and who are bonafide residents of the city for a minimum period of three years.

The decision has been taken in view of the long dates being given for MRI/ CT scan in Delhi Government hospitals, particularly the GB Pant Hospital and patients being made to wait for their turn upto three years in some cases due to piling up of demand.

The Governing Body of Delhi Arogya Kosh in its 11th GB meeting, chaired by the Health Minister Mr Satyendar Jain resolved to provide financial assistance for MRI/ CT scan to eligible patients undergoing treatment in the following ten identified Delhi Govt. hospitals:

1.      G.B. Pant Hospital

2.      Lok Nayak Hospital

3.      GTB Hospital

4.      DDU Hospital

5.      Dr. BSA Hospital

6.      Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital

7.      Janakpuri Super Specialty Hospital

8.      Institute of Human Behaviour & Allied Sciences

9.      Delhi State Cancer Institute

10.  Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya

It was resolved that the eligible patients shall be provided cashless MRI/ CT scan from the following NABH accredited MRI / CT scan centres on being referred/ authorised by the Medical Superintendent/ Nodal Officer, DAK of the aforementioned Delhi Govt. hospital concerned:

The scheme entitles the eligible patients, referred from the identified Delhi Government hospitals, to avail cashless MRI/ CT scan facility from such centres run under PPP mode in Central Government Hospitals and in Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, D-1, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi- 110070.

Delhi Arogya Kosh entered into an agreement with the MRI/ CT scan centres concerned on 30.11.2016 and the cashless facilities for MRI/ CT scan for eligible patients undergoing treatment in identified Delhi Govt. hospitals has now commenced.

This facility shall substantially decrease the load of MRI/ CT scan in Delhi Government Hospitals and, consequently, shorten the waiting list for MRI/ CT scan for patients undergoing treatment therein.

Moreover, through this scheme, facility of MRI/CT scan would be extended to even those identified hospitals, where presently the facilities are either unavailable or overloaded.

This will help in providing timely and prompt treatment to all patients in general and patients belonging to EWS category in particular.
